How to distinguish real medicine from fake medicine?

#StopFakeMeds #ThinkSmart

Fake medicines are everywhere.

The high price of products, the too marginal reimbursement of social security (when they exist!), shortages and the ever more “connected” lifestyle are all factors facilitating the intrusion of fake medicines into our lives.

How to tell “real” from “false”?

– Most of the time, it is impossible as the similarity between the real ones and the false ones is so close. A chemical analysis of the product can provide further details. They can take time and they are expensive.
– However, in a few questions, you will know if the product you purchased is in the “real” or “false” category:
1/ Where did you buy it? – If it is outside a legal circuit such as a street market or an unverified site on the Internet, it tends to be “false” category.
2/Which product? – If it is a medicine which is normally delivered on prescription it leans towards the “false” category.
3/ What packaging? If you receive the products out of their original packaging, or if the packaging is not in the language of the country where you are located, or if it has a different color, spelling mistakes, too much, a different, or no security on the box (hologram type, watermark, etc.), this is likely to be the “false” category.

Be honest in your answers: it will save your life and that of your loved ones!

If in doubt, it is advisable to take the medication to a pharmacist even if it was purchased elsewhere and/or contact your health agency.

We are all potentially victims of these fake medicines in circulation, so let’s talk about it to better protect ourselves!
